Lincoln Trio debuts new music by American women composers for Cedille Records
The Lincoln Trio has recorded
works by six living American female composers – four of which are
first performances on disc – for Cedille Records.
Notable Women, the Chicago-based ensemble’s first full-length release, includes first recordings of Lera Auerbach’s Trio; Stacy Garrop’s Seven; Laura Elise Schwendinger’s C’è la Luna Questa Sera?; and Joan Tower’s Trio Cavany. Rounding out the program are Augusta Read Thomas’s Moon Jig (which was composed for the Lincoln Trio) and Jennifer Higdon’s Piano Trio.
Founded in 2003, the Lincoln Trio – Desirée Ruhstrat (violin), David Cunliffe (cello), Marta Aznavoorian (piano) – is currently ensemble-in-residence at the Music Institute of Chicago.
Notable Women will be released on August 30.
