Opus Arte is to mark its tenth anniversary by releasing the world’s first ever full-length classical 3D Blu-ray disc in October this year.

Carmen 3D will feature Francesca Zambello’s production of Bizet’s perennial favorite for the Royal Opera House, London, with Christine Rice in the title role, Bryan Hymel as Don José, Aris Argiris singing Escamillo, and Maija Kovalevska as Micaëla.

The British label also announced two major DVD recordings: the
world premiere staging of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s controversial
Anna Nicole, first seen at Covent Garden earlier this year, and The Royal Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon.

Details of the 2011-12 Royal Opera House Cinema Season have also been revealed. Supported by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the season will feature nine productions – five of which will be screened live – and will be broadcast to more than 600 cinemas in 22 countries worldwide. It launches on September 28 with Gounod’s Faust and concludes on 16 May 2012 with a revival of Frederick Ashton’s La fille mal gardée.
