David Northington launches survey of Copland’s solo piano music on Centaur Records
David Northington is to record all
of Aaron Copland’s music for solo piano for Centaur Records.
A Professor of Music at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville since 1977, Northington’s survey
will extend to three discs, with
the first volume containing performances of The Cat and the Mouse: Scherzo Humoristique; Three Moods; Petit Portrait; Passacaglia; Sentimental Melody; Piano Variations; The Young Pioneers; Sunday Afternoon Music; and the Piano Sonata.
Northington has previously recorded the complete Chopin waltzes
for Centaur.
