World premieres in Harmonia Mundi’s showcase of American chamber music for clarinet
Two world premiere recordings of music for clarinet and piano by John Novacek and Paquto D’Rivera are to feature on a new all-American Harmonia Mundi disc from Jon Manasse and Jon Nakamatsu.
Composed for Manasse and Nakamatsu, Novacek’s 4 Rags for
2 Jons pays homage to Scott Joplin, while D’Rivera’s The Cape Cod Files was written to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, of which the two soloists are joint Artistic Directors.
Also included in the program is Leonard Bernstein’s Clarinet Sonata – his first published work – and arrangements by James Cohn of George Gershwin’s Three Preludes and ‘I Got Rhythm’ from the musical Girl Crazy.
American Chamber Music for Clarinet is now available in the U.S.
