Soprano Patricia Petibon brings the characters of Medea and Circe, singing excerpts of operas by 17th- and 18th-century composers with Héloïse Gaillard and Ensemble Amarillis, recorded last May at the Philharmonie de Paris. France Musique

Donald Runnicles conducts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder, recorded at the Edinburgh Festival. Soloists include Anja Kampe, Karen Cargill, Simon O’Neill, and Anthony Dean Griffey, plus Thomas Quasthoff as speaker. BBC3
